The NRA Basic Pistol Course teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude for owning and operating a pistol safely.
The NRA Basic Pistol course lasts at least 8 hours. The first 6 hours are spent in the classroom and then students are able to use their new knowledge at the range with the instructor. Students will learn about and shoot revolvers and semi-automatic pistols. Also, students learn NRA’s rules of how to safely handle guns; different parts of a pistol and how it operates; the most basic instruction on shooting; range rules; ammunition types; howto shoot from various positions; how to clean a pistol; as well as opportunities to learn more basic pistol instruction. This is the most comprehensive course offered to beginners from the NRA. Basic Pistol is highly recommended for those with little firearm experience who desire to get their MN permit to carry or for those who simply want to learn to learn basic pistol handling.
Teens and mature children are invited to sit in on classes with a parent or guardian for free.If the teens or children over 10 shoot during range time, they may for $20.
